Dubai Smart City named Smart Dubai is leading the way in digitalization by creating one of the most sustainable city and World Expo with a startup accelerator program and inaugurating a Minister for Artificial Intelligence. The Dubai Plan 2021 includes policies to achieve a happier society with new technologies playing a key role like AI, blockchain and autonomous services. The government is supporting innovation showcases at Expo 2020 Dubai implementing distinct Sustainability, Mobility and Startup ecosystems:
- Smart meters and sensor data help reduce carbon emissions. For Expo 2020 and beyond, Smart Dubai will achieve their ambitious 2050 Clean Energy Strategy to increase the proportion of clean, solar and nuclear energy to 75%.
- New metro lines will help visitors attend Expo 2020 on public transport. Dubai Roads and Transport Authority have set a target of 30% of trips by public transport by 2030. And a 15 km metro extension to connect Nakheel Harbour and Tower Station to the Expo 2020 site is under construction.
- Accelerator programs create new opportunities for startups. The Dubai Plan 2021 includes policies to achieve a happier society. New technologies play a role and will include AI and autonomous services.
